The Main objectives of Nepali Sahitya Sammelan, Darjeeling
- To work for the development and promotion of Nepali language,
literature and culture. - To publish original and translation literature.
- To hold literary seminars, exchange programmes, writers meet, symposium etc. to further the cause of Nepali language.
- To publish literary magazines, souvenirs and other periodicals
to encourage young and upcoming writers and
poets. - To help research students by providing financial assistance
in their research works on the development of Nepali language
and literature. - To work on research of ancient history, ancient literature,
cultural heritage and civilization of Nepal - To set up its own printing press.
INSTALLATION OF STATUE OF BHANUBHAKTA AT CHOWRASTA
The executive board of the Nepali Sahitya Sammelan, Darjeeling in its meeting held on 18th August, 1947 proposed to install the bust statue of the Nepali poet Bhanubhakta Acharya at Chowrasta, Darjeeling and also decided to start fund raising drive for the purpose. On request by the Sammelan, the Darjeeling Municipality granted a piece of land at Chowrasta in front of Brabourne Park for installing the said statue. The letter from the Secretary.
